The Work Ahead for West Tennessee

Nine priorities: the issues as they exist, where I stand, and exactly what I will do in Congress. No hedging, no party scripting.

The Standard I'll Hold

Before every major vote, one question: Does this move the ball forward for West Tennesseans? If it hurts our farms, our families, or our future, I will oppose it loudly — regardless of which party wrote it.

The Problem Here

Cotton, soybean, and corn producers across Gibson, Haywood, Crockett, Madison, and Henderson counties absorbed the cost of a tariff fight they did not start, while import prices, equipment, and land rent kept climbing. Farming here is a generational legacy operating on a single-digit margin.

What It Means for TN-8

The Mississippi River corridor is this district's export ramp. Keep it dredged, keep the roads to it in repair, and West Tennessee grain competes with anybody's.

What I'll Do in Congress

  1. 1Push emergency and bridge relief for producers hit by retaliatory tariffs, paid out on the crop-year calendar farmers actually live on — not eighteen months late.
  2. 2Defend and strengthen crop insurance and disaster programs in the Farm Bill, with coverage that reflects real West Tennessee input costs.
  3. 3Reopen and diversify export markets so no single trade dispute can wipe out a season, and hold hearings when a policy decision costs this district money.
  4. 4Fund the rural infrastructure farming depends on: river terminals, grain roads and bridges, rail spurs, and broadband for precision ag.

Education

My wife was a teacher, and we spent many, many late nights preparing for the next day's or next week's instructions. I strongly support teachers, fund rural schools fairly, and build real paths to college, the trades, service, or starting a business.

Immigration & Border Security

A secure border and a workable legal system are both necessary. Enforce the law, focus on serious threats, and give employers and families a process they can understand.

Seniors & Social Security

Protect earned Social Security and Medicare benefits, and lower prescription and long-term care costs for the fastest-aging counties in the district.
